If All of the 4 races have a separate armour set for each profession there could be over 400 armour arts have to be done.
Imagine workload for the Arts team.Unless those races counted as profession.
Well of course the workload's gonna be huge, it's gonna be a whole new game. But I do think you're exaggerating how much work has to be done into this. Say you have armor X for warriors. There's a human male, charr male, and I dunno let's say a centaur male. Since they all have similiar builds - A human is template, a charr is just bigger with different feet, and a centaur has a horse body waist down - you would just have to remodel the differences in body structure. They won't have to remodel or retexture the whole armor set for that race. They'd just reshape it, and that's not too hard.

Why don't we start thinking up new races?

Charr
After being misled by the titans in XXXX, the Charr started reforming under the lead of XXXXX. During these times, they are highly civilicized, and someone you can trust. Their main god is the god of war and fire, Balthazar

Elonians
After recovering from Nightfall, Elona went downhill. The river Elon started drying up, partly due to the damage Varesh inflicted upon the land, and Elona started getting poor. Their main god is the god of illusion and beauty, Lyssa

Dwarves
After the civil war, the dwarves began to expand their world, and are widely known for their expertise with weapons. They follow the god Melandru, because while machinery is important in their life, they know Melandru is the only one who can keep them warm.

Humans
They're still the same bastards. They follow Dwayna, because they like to 'make peace' and mind the business of other countries.

Margonites
Originally thought to be of evil nature, the Margonites are actually a quite civilized race. After Abaddon fell, they started meeting Tyria, and now their population is quite big. Their main god is the God of Truth, to remind them of their ancestors and their sins.

Emos
Originally Kurzicks, the Emos are a breed between Luxons and Kurzicks, after they were brought together. They heavily focus on machinery, but are still as emo as ever. Their god is grenth, because he's also emo.

No offense.

Seriously.

Or a much better idea IMO:

Use "the mists" to travel between times. My Idea of it is this: There would be a new type of "ascension" one that allows you to become a "mistwalker" (via a series of quest and/or missions) this would allow you to use the mist to travel between the times. The mist was there from the beginning of time, so why would it not have it's secrets? I really like this idea. I think it would work. Just my opinion.
If you've ever taken a Factions/Nightfall character through Prophecies, you'll know that there is a sort of "time travel" involved. When you go back mission wise from Lion's Arch, it tells you that you are reliving the events in Ascalon/Tyria ect. Time Travel without fancy smancy effects ftw?

If they were to add races this is how they would PROBABLY do it:

Instead of a new chapter focused on the usual/norm of human chars pretty much the same game would be introduced but, maybe, a different time and place, and storyline. Thus you could play a Charr but the situation would be much different. And you probably wouldn't be able to fight other "human" players in the other version of Guild Wars.

3 days? You must play WAY too much. For the average player, it takes 2-3 weeks.

Well, I agree with him because look at the quests in the newer chapters - 3k xp *each!* And there's just as many quests in Prophecies, but each are 500xp.

I doubt Charr will ever be playable. if Anet is going to add playable races, it'll be new ones.

Anet promised us other races in future chapters back in the day, prior to the release of Prophecies. Hell, bring them on. I've been waiting. I'd love to play as a Charr. Who knows, they might have evolved, because the game is set hundreds of years after GW1. And Blizzard isn't the only company to have non-human characters. It would be interesting to play from the perspective of other than humans. Down with humans. ;P

In the end, we still have a couple years until the release of this game. Who knows, you might not be gaming at that time. Even if you refuse to purchase the next GW series, Anet will always have a fan base. So, leave if you want. No one's stopping you.

Some of the speculation in this thread is just....laughable.

[card]Edge of Extinction[/card] This one comes to mind. I am sure there are others that do damage to "creatures of the same type". A team of all Charr would not be affected at all by this skill if they used it but the opposing human team would.

So I think adding different races will affect the balancing of the game.
Who says EoE will even be in GW2?

Who says that races MUST have unique stats? Who says that's the only way to make them more appealing? *shakes head*

I am for new races/species being able to be in the GW universe.

I am not for specialization of those races/species over another in certain classes. Don't need GW based racism/speciesism(<_<..dont think that is a work, but you get my idea). There is enough grief over class builds and weapon selection as it is within GW.

Charr come in all flavours too.
Charr Warrior.
Charr Hunter.
Charr Flame Lord.
Charr Mind Lord.
Charr Shaman.
Charr Ash Walker.
That's all 6 core professions! I doubt they'd pick only 1 profession to base the race around.
They could make it so that a Charr Shaman get's a couple skills exclusive to them, while a Norn Monk gets a couple of skills exclusive to them. And a Charr Warrior gets a couple, and a Norn gets a couple. And balance those skills so that no build relies on those 2 skills. They'd just be supplements you could use or not if you wish. Just for flavour.
Such as the Charr Shaman gets a monk skill, where if they are on fire they are healed for x amount and the Norn Monk gets a spell where if they are frozen they get healed x amount. I don't know!

I want to be a pancake mesmer in a red wagon.
My little red handle can flip up to interrupt people.
And the pancake can have a syrup smiley face to wink afterwards.

Why would they give us Asura minipets if we could never take them to GW2?
the Cynical version of that answer is:
so you get excited about GW2, so excited that your brain will be short-circuited by your "Wants" when it comes time to buy it.

Yep, that's the cynical side of it. The more realistic side would be that the Asura features in some way in the next campaign. Also, there's no reason to be able to take it into GW2.. If the rumours are true, you can play as one instead of having a useless (although I do like them) one following you around. And the last point I'm going to make would be that there's 2 or 3 years before GW2 is supposedly being released, and Anet needs to keep adding content, no matter how small, to GW1 to keep people playing. I mean, I love GW to death, but I doubt I'd be that interested in playing for 3 years without a single addition to the game.
